Thanks for asking.
Dear Butch Hartman and Crew:
Every day, the adventures of Timmy Turner and his wacky godparents are viewed by children, teens, and adults alike. Your show has creatively inspired many people, and brought the perfect example of family fun entertainment to Nick. However, the last few seasons have showed a great decline in overall show quality, causing the ratings - not to mention the dedicated viewers - to drop. There are several reasons behind this, and we, your loyal fans, know exactly what they are. So, in order to keep one of the few good shows on Nick in production, we decided to share these issues with you so FOP can shine again!
The #1 thing about the episodes that absolutely must be changed is the relationship between everyone's favorite couple, Cosmo and Wanda. In the earlier seasons, they warmed their viewers' hearts with constant flirting and happy-go-lucky personalities. Now? Well, it seems as though there is no love loss between them at all, and they're too uptight and constantly bickering. The "nag," "idiot," and "moron" jokes are unamusing and taken as a personal insult by fans, and we're tired of it! It would greatly improve the show if they went back to showing a lot of romanticism between each other, along with their cute nicknames like "sweetie" and "babe." I mean, their chemistry together is a HUGE reason why the show became a hit with the "Oh, Yeah!" Shorts in the first place.
Character development in general is actually a big reason why a lot of FOP fans aren't happy. For one thing, everyone seems to have gone slightly crazy, egotistic, or....both. Tootie's OCD behavior over Timmy is rather annoying. There are plenty of Veronica fans out there, but she gets very little attention, and when she does, it's always to tease her in an extremely ignorant and unamusing way, as something bad almost always happens to her! And Trixie? Her tomboy side was an ultimate twist to "The Boy Who Would Be Queen," but that aspect of her has completely dropped out of the show. Now, it seems as though her only purpose is to be shallow and rude, and Trixie fans are finding it insulting. She was rather nice to Timmy in some earlier season episodes, and that's what sparked the TimmyxTrixie pairing to begin with. Lately, all of the characters have done is act selfish, shallow and wacky, and it's made the whole atmosphere of the show feel rather negative. We enjoy fun-loving characters with great chemistry and, although they have disagreements, they don't insult each other. What happened to THOSE personality traits in cartoons?
The show's plotlines are getting to be a little....stale. So far in Season 7, it's just been the Cosmo, Wanda, Poof and Timmy quartet with little or no emphasis on other characters. Whatever happened to Blonda? Big Daddy? What have Tad and Chad been up to? We do like side characters just as much main ones, and seeing the same stars in every episode gives viewers this "It's nothing we haven't seen before attitude." We'd love it if more characters were shown, even points of view with different people. And as much as the Anti-Fairies and the Pixies are amusing....they're basically the only side characters that were given important roles this season. We get it...they're malevolent, they want control of Fairy World.....we're curious to know about OTHER magical creatures in this world as well? Where are all the wizards? Gnomes? Are leprechauns important to the magical world? Using different characters could make the opportunity for more creative storylines and make everything seem more mysterious and interesting Not only that, it could also arouse great topic discussions for fans.
Why is it that there are 10 times more boys than girls on the show? Are you guys sexist towards females? Just curious, considering the fact that all the female side characters don't get much attention, and none of them have shown up at all in Season 7. There's Tootie, Trixie, Veronica, Vicky, Blonda....where are they?! Don't you like Grey DeLisle as a voice actress anymore? It's ironic that males seem to dominate everything about the show, since most of the voice actresses are female. In Fairly Odd Baby, we were shocked that Cosmo was carrying Poof and that the child turned to be a boy. It was BEYOND mind boggling as to how that could happen, but it also conveyed a sexist message. Wanda, the only girl who gets a lot of attention...and less than Poof, Cosmo, and Timmy do, we might add...didn't even get to carry her child and got surrounded once again by another male. Between that and the big decrease in females on the show, we feel as though girls just aren't appreciated at all.
One last thing that has irked fans is how LOUD everyone's voices are! We can remember the earlier seasons quite well. Cosmo and Wanda had deeper tones in their voices and sounded really different with certain emotions. Then the later seasons came around, and it every character started to SCREAM their lines....it was as though they couldn't get a point across without shouting at everyone. Hearing that all the time makes everyone sound very monotone yet obnoxious, and viewers lose interest right away. We can hear and understand the episodes just fine without the characters screaming the story out. We actually enjoy it better when they use different voices for different emotions, like real people.
Don't get us wrong....your show still has many loyal fans like us. Most of us have been watching since we were in diapers. We know that the show has GREAT potential and could shine in its well-deserved glory once again. I mean, it used to be one of the most popular shows on Nick. By listening to your fans and making a few minor changes, The Fairly Odd Parents can appease viewers and bring back many that it lost. Most importantly, it can have its old glory back and, as we get older, it can still help us all remain kids at heart.
Sincerely,
Your many loyal FOP fans

I wish that could happen.
