You've already proven you can get and do the work. Which already gives you an advantage over 90% of the animators out there. You won't miss having to pay for Cal Arts too.

Just keep doing what you've been doing. It seems to me like it's working so far.

Re: Frederator Studios Blogs | Stephen M. They'll critique like crazy and it will help you improve.

www.conceptart.org/forums/

Re: Frederator Studios Blogs | Stephen M. But either way, I'm sure it'll all work out.

Re: Frederator Studios Blogs | Stephen M. Unlike myself when I was in a similar predicament a few years back. That was a scary couple of days! The point is, I found another route to where I wanted to go, there's always one open to you. It might not be the most direct way or even the way you want to go, but everything sorts itself out in the end; it did for me. And like everyone else has said, you now have a wide range of options available for you to explore. Here's hoping that someday you look back at this and smile.

Re: Frederator Studios Blogs | Stephen M. I know that's the way I felt when I tried to get in there WAY back in 1972, and was passed over. Somehow, I've managed to make a living out of animation without going there, and like to say that my biggest loss was that I didn't learn to draw characters with lots and lots of teeth. You have drive, ambition, talent and friends in the business. You will do well no matter what educational path you take. I, for one, wish you great success.

Re: Frederator Studios Blogs | Stephen M. It may seem like it sucks that you didn't get into Cal Arts, but it's OK. You've got a lot of experience, and a long list of industry contacts already. Take some classes, go to some industry events, and don't let it bug you. The real stuff you need to know in this industry, you can't learn at any school anyhow. Keep honing your skills and tightening your reel and you'll go far.

Re: Frederator Studios Blogs | Stephen M. I know you're disappointed, but you've got a world of options at your doorstep. And, because you're you, you'll make the most of any of them.
