But you know, I watch every year, some news stations replay their coverage of what happened at the same time back in 2001. And seven years later, it still give me chills, it gives me a lump in my throat, a knot in my stomach...and I just can't wrap my head around the whole thing. I may never be able to. I was just into my second week of school when it happened, but didn't know that anything was even going on until the end of the day; the teachers, while they all knew, were apparently told to keep their composure and not tell any of the students, and it's surprising to me how they managed to be so calm because there were residents of our town and alumni of our school who were at the World Trade Center that day and unfortunately fell victim to the attacks. The principal of our school did announce what happened before the day was over, and it didn't make much sense to me until I actually got home and started watching the news. Even then, I think it still never really hit me. I mean, I watched the footage of the plane flying in from offscreen followed by an explosion. I watched the footage of a second plane doing the same thing. It gave me chills, and I still get those same chills today. And even though I can say all this it just feels like there's something I will never understand.
Thanks for posting, Floyd.
