I was even invited on stage to answer a few questions about my film.
It is a very strange festival...

I really appreciated the fact that most of the speakers talked about how they balance their commercial and personal work. Many of them also seem to have a love/hate relationship with "cute".

I didn't attend every session, but I found myself to be very conflicted about the content of the whole thing.
I really liked the two German chaps who put the thing together.
I wasn't sold on the concept at all until I heard what they had to say.
They gave good, solid interesting reasons for creating a festival commenting on this particular style of character design.
I would even go so far as to say that I related to much of what they were suggesting and actually felt like part of a "movement".
But I still found some of the content hard to take.
I went to the last session and screening with my gal (also an artist).
We're all about leading creative lives and living with open minds, but something like the whole "Friends With You" was very difficult for me to enjoy.
They walk a very fine line between simple and innocent and cloying and calculated.
Rebecca hated it, I thought it was amateurish and cheap.
Still - a lot of folks clearly go for it so what do I know.

In short - I love what the festival was trying to do, even if I'm not sure it was backed up by great examples.

I thought I'd head over here and update my ever-out-of-date blog. We're working on a show that we've been developing for four months. We're due to go into full production in the New Year with the first 23 minute episode to be completed by the end of January.
