Frederator Blogs: Frederator Studios Blogs | Channel Frederator Blog | Homer tries to vote for Obama

How do I say this without sounding like a tool? I am registered an Independent, I do not agree with my parents' Conservative views, and I WON'T vote for McCain just because they intend too.

But, I'll be honest. This did NOT make me want to vote for Obama. In fact, it had the exact opposite effect.
I already have issues with the humor being astonishingly lazy on "The Simpsons" in recent memory. The last thing they need to be doing is expressing a crude, ugly statement of political superiority in order to SEEM like they're still cutting edge. I am just thankful that my father does not care for "The Simpsons" in general, another thing I disagree with him on, and thus will never see this clip.
I got the impression that the people behind this message consider all those who disagree with their politics as being inferior to them.
I walk away with the impression that no matter how this election ends up, there will inevitably be a great civil war between the two political sects.
I just want my parents to accept my dreams to enter the entertainment and particularly the animation industry (which they do despite their conservative views).
I want there to be harmony between the family I love and the business I want a part of.

The philosophies of the impression I am getting are the equivalent of Billy Crystal and Matt Damon resorting to violence and wanting to kill each other because they root for different baseball teams. It does not make anyone want to support Obama by demonizing McCain, but rather makes Obama's supporters look like babies and whiners who are bigoted against anyone who has differing political views.

Please prove me wrong about the impression I got. Please find better, classier ways to express your support for Senator Barack Obama. If he loses, it will be because messages like this turned off centrist voters such as myself.

I don't think the piece was pro Obama or pro McCain, but played to the conspiracy theory that the Republicans have the electronic voting machines rigged. Homer also mentions President McCain near the end.
