Howdy. Thanks for sharing the love... let me try and clear up some of your questions...

"why they use the British spelling of “colour” since they are based in Portland."
It doesn't bother me that much switching between the two ways of spelling, but I know it does bother some people. I wrote a long explanation about this here: http://www.colourlovers.com/blog/2007/09/05/col...

"if Darius A Monsef IV, the founder, was really born with such an amazing name."
I was born with 86.7% of my name. I added the end bit.

"what exactly an “internet astronaut” is, which he claims to be."
-The more common theme is “in the trenches” or “on the front lines”… but I honestly don’t feel like I’m at war with anyone and I don’t have a real strong interest in killing my competitors. A cold war is a better example than a gun fight.

-I am passionate about creating something new, changing the world and the excitement that comes along with taking a big risk in something you believe in. I love the childhood dream of reaching space… going somewhere new… making history… I’ve felt that way about the internet since I was a kid.

-Describing myself as an “Entrepreneur” just doesn’t explain it anymore. There are many types of entrepreneurs; small business owners, freelance contractors, get-rich-quick schemers… My flavor of entrepreneurship is best expressed with the astronaut theme… “rocket to the stars or crash and burn back down to earth.”

-Finally, I use the astronaut theme because it implies the risk and dedication it takes to get a startup off the ground. It can take tons of hard work, early days and late nights… and laying it all on the line. Also, Astronauts are not in their careers only because it pays well… the high-risk isn’t worth the money. They do it because they love it. I’d like to think think I’m in this business for the chance to go somewhere new, more than the chance to make a lot of money. (although that is a great possible benefit of being an internet entrepreneur.)

I'm glad you like it. Happy COLOURloving!
